Modified Rediscovery-Root series

'Modified Rediscovery-Root series’는 가평 여행에서 폭우로 인해 파헤쳐진 땅속에서 뒤엉켜져 있는 뿌리를 보고 영감 받

아 제작하게 된 것으로 그 모습이 마치 인간사회 속에서 뒤엉켜져 연결되어지는 관계들을 떠올리게 하였다. 우리는 집단 속 매

개체 역할을 하는 성격의 사람 또는 특정 집단으로 인하여 성향과 역할이 전혀 다른 방향으로 변화되어지는 형상들을 발견하

게 된다. 이러한 형상을 표현함에 있어 유리와 성격이 전혀 다른 성격인 도자를 허브역할로 사용함으로써이질적이면서도조

화를 이루는 모습을 나타내었다. ‘Modified Rediscovery’ (변형된 재발견)는 유리 공병을 더욱 재료적 관점에서 활용하기 위

해 고민하며 접근한 결과물이며, 유리병을 이어 붙이는 허브와 같은 역할을 핀칭기법으로 제작하는 도자 유닛으로 인하여 제

한적이었던 형태를 확대하여 좀 더 자유롭게 표현할 수 있게 되었다. 타 재료와의 결합을 통해 유리 공병을 예술작품의 소재로

사용할 수 있는 범위를 확대하여 표현할 수 있게 되었으며, 이는 작가의 창의적인 발상아래 미래를 바라보며 살아가는 공예의

활용 범위를 높이는 것으로 발전되고자 하는 바람이다. ‘하나’가 되어가는 과정은 때로는 고단하지만, 문득 지나온 순간을 뒤

돌아보면 밝게 빛나고 있는 것을 느낄 수 있을 것이다.

The ‘Modified Rediscovery-Root series’ was inspired by the roots tangled in the ground dug up by heavy rain during a trip

to Gapyeong, and the appearance reminded me of the intertwined and connected relationships in human society. We find

shapes in which dispositions and roles are changed in completely different directions due to a specific group or a person

who acts as a medium in a group. In expressing these shapes, ceramics, which have a completely different personality from

glass, were used as a hub to show a heterogeneous and harmonious appearance. 'Modified Rediscovery' is the result of a

contemplative approach to utilize the empty glass bottle from a material point of view, and the limited form of connecting

ceramic units to glass bottle with pinching techniques can be expanded to freely express more. Through the combination

with other materials, it is possible to expand and express the scope of use of the empty bottle as a material for artworks.

The process of becoming ‘one’ is sometimes difficult, but if you look back on the moment that has passed, you will feel

that it is shining brightly.
